Mission and Vision

Mission Statement

Overture Music Academy exists to glorify God by providing excellent music education in a Christian community for students in Middle Tennessee.
This is realized through general music class, choral and instrumental ensembles, as well as supplemental classes in topics of music theory and music history.

We seek to support students in reaching their God-given potential as musicians and strive to create a supportive community for students and their families to grow and develop.

We are recognized as a charitable organization in the state of Tennessee and as a nonprofit organization under 501(c)3 of the federal tax code.

“For what we proclaim is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, with ourselves as your servant for Jesus’ sake. For God, who said, ‘Let light shine out of darkness,’ has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.”

2 Corinthians 4:5-6

Our Passion

We want our students to understand that music is much more than just notes on a page; it is a vehicle for expressing the breadth of human emotion and the beauty of God as part of His created order.

We want to facilitate collaborative opportunities through which students and the community can encounter the beauty of God’s created order, both its expansiveness and its deeply personal facets, through the musical arts.

We seek to teach that music shall be  “soli Deo gloria” — for the glory of God alone.

Our Name

The word “overture” describes the intent behind everything we do.

By both connotation and definition, it embodies “an introduction to something more substantial.”
We share our passion for excellence in musicianship with each student to inspire growth.

We develop in this next generation of musicians a deeper understanding of music, while from the beginning teaching that all of life should be aimed at glorifying God, their Creator.

We show students their lifelong goal should be stewardship of their God-given talents.

We foster in our student community a love for music that will serve them throughout their lives.

Our Beliefs

Our statement of faith includes truths upon which all orthodox Christians agree. It concerns the authority of Scripture, Deity of Christ, the Person and Work of Jesus Christ (the Gospel) as revealed in Scripture. It is the faith once delivered to the saints (Jude 1:2, Ephesians 4:5) which distinguishes believers from non-believers.  It offers clarification on distinctives that affect the life of students and families learning together in Christian community and mutual support of one another.
