Jessica was born and raised in Bourbonnais, IL, to parents who were lifelong educators and musicians. She would often sing and play in church and formed a love for both music and education through early lessons in piano and voice. Jessica began playing the oboe in fifth grade and through middle school and high school performed with many musical ensembles. In her junior year of high school, she started teaching piano lessons and developing the skills necessary to share her love for music with students.
Jessica earned her B.S. in Music Education from Olivet Nazarene University. After graduation she accepted a public school position teaching elementary music and middle school choir. On nights and weekends, she spent time teaching private lessons as well as music directing and performing in theatre.
Jessica moved to Tennessee in 2004, where she met and married her husband. She taught music and choir at St. Matthew Catholic School in Franklin for four years before taking time to raise kids while maintaining a piano and voice studio. Living in Nashville has given many wonderful opportunities to continue her studies both at Belmont University, studying with Dr. Jennifer Coleman and Middle Tennessee State University. In addition, Jessica has been a member of the Nashville Opera Ensemble since 2005.
When Jessica is not doing all things music, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters. She loves hiking, backpacking, gardening, and visiting state and national parks. Jessica is honored to join Overture Music Academy.
